My training program, I aim to provide your dogs with a solid foundation that enables them to comprehend and fulfill the requirements of a good bird dog. The best way to do this is building a strong relationship with the dog. Each lesson provides further develop these behaviors in a dog and every interaction between trainer and dog is tailored to meet the individual dog’s needs at that particular time. That way you can work better as a team. This foundation consists of three essential phases.
Phase 1:
I introduce your dogs to birds and gunfire. My primary focus is to teach them how to learn and develop confidence in themselves and their handlers. I start from scratch, assuming that the dogs have no prior knowledge. We begin with basic obedience, standing still, recall, and basic handling.
Phase 2:
In this phase, we further strengthen the foundation of handling skills. We teach your dogs to turn left and right, improve their recall ability, and introduce them to a formal "whoa" command. Then I start to teach them those cues with an E collar.
Phase 3:
Once your dog has a clear understanding of what is expected from them, we shift our focus to fieldwork. We utilize the cues provided by the E collar to reinforce commands for whoa, turning, and recall. Furthermore, we introduce birds into the training sessions to work on steadiness and compliance.
Our training program is designed to progressively build upon each phase, ensuring that your dogs develop the necessary skills to excel in the field.
The final crucial aspect is not solely about the dog itself, but rather about acquiring the skills to effectively communicate and handle your dog. The training includes a personalized one-on-one handler lesson, which educates you on the fundamentals of comprehending my training techniques and cues. This equips you with the ability to implement what you have learned and apply it in the field.
